Full Navigation Training including:
- Course plotting and dead reckoning
- Determing tides and currents
- Estimating times of arrival
- GPS Nav Plotter familiarity with plotting waymarks and routes
- Basic use of radar, vessel avoidance and bearing/range determination
Cruise the Gulf Islands or Desolation Sound with your instructor on board overnight for a safe and pleasurable boating experience. The instructor will also familiarize you with:
- handling a one or two engine boat and the effect of the prop
- using the AC/DC marine electrical systems on your vessel
- refueling procedures
- radio procedures and Canadian Coast Guard regulations
- safety drills including man overboard procedures
- determining the marine weather forecast
- basic seamanship including knots and securing the vessel to the dock
- grey water and black water procedures
